Illegal blood banks won’t be allowed to operate: minister

LAHORE:Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique said that illegal blood banks will not be allowed to operate across the province.

He said this while, chairing an important meeting of the Institute of Blood Transfusion Services (IBTS) in the Department of Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education on Wednesday. Punjab Health Secretary Azmat Mehmood, Special Secretary Tariq Mehmood and Additional Secretary Technical Dr. Waseem participated. Director IBTS Professor Shabnam Bashir and others were also present on this occasion.

Khawaja Salman Rafique made a detailed review of the performance of the Institute of Blood Transfusion Services. “We are trying to ensure the use of clean blood in the treatment of patients in government hospitals. We have to make the mission of safe blood for all successful. The use of clean blood during treatment is the basic right of every patient”.

Khawaja Salman directed the MSs of government hospitals to ensure the cleanliness of blood banks. Meanwhile, Provincial Minister for Specialised Healthcare and Emergency Services, Khawaja Salman Rafique visited Indus Hospital, Jubilee Town. Founder of Indus Hospital Lahore Javed Arshad Bhatti, Director Indus Hospital and Health Network Mian M Ahsan, CEO Dr. Shafiq Haider, CEO LIMS Dr Tasman Ibn Rasa, Executive Director RTEHT Aziz ur Rehman, Executive Director CRD North Salman Hamid and Manager Coordination Talal Ahmad were also present. The minister and other guests visited various departments of hospital and appreciated the services provided in the Emergency, OPD, and other departments of the hospital. He commended the hospital and health network’s commitment to providing free and quality healthcare services in the health sector.
