Nadir upsets top seed Nael in junior tennis

ISLAMABAD: Local talented player Nadir Mirza upset top seed Ahmed Nael Qureshi in straight sets 6-2, 6-4 to earn a place in the boys’ singles of ITF Pakistan J30 World Junior Tennis Championships underway here at the PTF Complex Courts.

Pakistan’s Muhammad Talha Khan also prevailed over Thai opponent Patham Laosakulporn 6-1, 6-4. Results: Boys’ singles pre- quarter-finals: Sign Ji (KOR) bt Danathi Taking (THA) 6-3, 6-0; Muhammad Talha Khan (PAK) bt Patham Laosakulporn (THA) 6-1, 6-4; Park Dohyun (KOR) bt Bilal Asim (PAK) 2-6, 6-3, 6-2; Teetawat (THA) bt Salar Khan ( PAK) 6-4, 6-4; Nadir Mirza (PAK) bt Ahmad Nael Qureshi (PAK) 6-2, 6-4; Ariyaphol Leekul (THA) Hiuyuan Guo (CHN) 6-1, 6-0; Seung Woo Han (KOR) bt Ahtesham Humayun (PAK) 6-3, 6-3.

Girls’ doubles 1st Round: Katsube Haruhi (JPN) & Hinata Wada (JPN) bt Fatima Ali Raja & Zainab Ali Raja 6-0, 6-0.
