LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) while declaring ‘unnecessary’ the miscellaneous petition filed against granting permission to security agencies to record phone calls of citizens has wrapped up the plea.
Chief Justice (CJ) LHC Aalia Neelum took up a petition filed by the Judicial Activism Panel and others for hearing on Tuesday. Assistant Attorney General Rafaqat Dogar appeared on behalf of the government.
Challenging the July 8 notification the petitioners took a plea in the petitions that recording calls of citizens runs contrary to the constitution. It is requested that the court declare notification on phone calls tapping null and void. The CJ while declaring the petition unnecessary and wrapping it up remarked Justice Farooq Haider has been nominated to hear such cases.
