MULTAN: Heavy contingents of police and representatives of the city district administration observed a crackdown on the brick kilns that were working in violation of smog SOPs and causing widespread smog in the district, police said.

In the joint crackdown launched by the district administration and police to eliminate smog, police have registered criminal cases under the Environment Protection Act.

Special teams of personnel raided different spots in the district and traced 30 brick kilns emitting black smoke and contributing to the spread of smog. Police registered cases against the owners of 30 more kilns causing environmental pollution.

The anti-smog district Task Force sealed off 10 industrial units and over 1,000 vehicles on Tuesday. The Deputy Commissioner Wasim Hamid Sindhu and CPO Sadiq Ali Dogar presided over a meeting of the district administration and police.
