I am writing to express concern over the increasingly unpredictable weather in Karachi, especially the diminishing winter season. With November already halfway through, there are still no signs of the usual winter chill. The city remains warm, a far cry from the cool breeze that should be sweeping in by now. In past years, we would expect the onset of winter by early November. This delay is a reflection of broader climate change issues, as rising global temperatures disrupt seasonal patterns.
Karachi, like many cities, is experiencing the effects of global warming. The lack of a proper winter season is not just an inconvenience but also a sign of the larger environmental challenges we face. These changes could lead to water shortages, energy crises, and worsening pollution. It is important that we recognise the urgency of addressing these changes. The government must focus on climate action, from reducing emissions to promoting sustainable practices.
