Balochistan cabinet approves Security of Vulnerable Establishments Act

This act aims to coordinate various security agencies’ efforts to restore peace across province

QUETTA: Chief Minister of Balochistan Mir Sarfaraz Bugti has reiterated his government’s commitment to combating terrorism with strength and approved the Balochistan Security of Vulnerable Establishments Act 2024, which would focus on coordinating various security agencies’ efforts to restore peace across the province.

Chaired by Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti, a meeting of the Balochistan Cabinet took place on Monday at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat. The session began with a prayer for the victims of the recent bomb blast at Quetta Railway Station. The cabinet condemned the attack and reaffirmed its commitment to combating terrorism with full strength and determination.

During the meeting, the cabinet approved the Balochistan Security of Vulnerable Establishments Act 2024. This act aims to coordinate various security agencies’ efforts to restore peace across the province.

Additionally, the cabinet approved the establishment of new police stations in Rara Sham and Kangri and a Levies station in Chaman as part of the Chaman Master Plan. It also sanctioned the appointment of a chairman and members for the Balochistan Sales Tax on Services Revenue Appellate Tribunal, as well as funds for the Quetta Development Package.

Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti addressed the cabinet, emphasizing the government’s unwavering commitment to eradicating terrorism and restoring lasting peace. He stated that security forces, the government, and the public are united in defeating those who disrupt peace.

Bugti highlighted that the new police and Levies stations would support these efforts, with locations chosen based on community needs. The chief minister stressed that Quetta, as the face of the province, requires development and beautification initiatives. He assured that funds for the Quetta Development Package would be promptly released to ensure timely improvements. The cabinet also acknowledged the Balochistan Health Department’s swift response following the railway station blast. CM Bugti praised the dedication of provincial ministers Bakht Muhammad Kakar, Mir Shoaib Nosherwani, Haji Ali Madad Jatak, health department officials, doctors, and medical staff for their selfless service during the crisis.

Advisor to the Chief Minister, Dr. Rubaba Khan Buledi, proposed training volunteers to enhance emergency response effectiveness. CM Bugti supported this proposal, directing the development of a strategic plan. The meeting was attended by provincial ministers, including Mir Shoaib Nosherwani, Mir Saleem Khosa, Mir Asim Kurd Gello, Haji Ali Madad Jatak, Noor Muhammad Dummar, Raheela Hameed Khan Durrani, Bakht Muhammad Kakar, and Women Development Department Advisor Dr Rubaba Khan Buledi, alongside Chief Secretary Balochistan Shakeel Qadir Khan, Principal Secretary Imran Zarkoon, Additional Chief Secretary Interior Shahabuddin, and other departmental secretaries and officials.
