Fakhar Zaman joins drug-free Peshawar campaign

PESHAWAR: National cricket icon Fakhar Zaman has stepped forward to support the provincial government and Commissioner Peshawar Division Riaz Khan Mahsud’s mission to create a drug-free Peshawar.

In a meeting at the commissioner’s office, he pledged his efforts to raise awareness against drug abuse, hailing the initiative as a vital step in safeguarding the city’s future.The cricketer praised the provincial government’s commitment to addressing drug addiction and bringing change to the streets of Peshawar. He emphasized that combating addiction and supporting those affected by drugs requires collective action.

“Raising awareness against drugs, taking firm action against drug dealers, and providing treatment for individuals suffering from addiction are crucial steps,”Fakhar Zaman said, describing those struggling with addiction as “living corpses, abandoned and marginalized on our streets.”

He called the government’s decision to prioritize rehabilitation a “praiseworthy step” and urged swift, decisive action against drug trafficking networks. He also committed his time and voice to the campaign, expressing his readiness to support awareness efforts without charge, underscoring his dedication to the cause.

Riaz Khan Mahsud hoped that the involvement of influential figures like Fakhar Zaman would be instrumental in reaching wider communities and enhancing the impact of the campaign. He underscored the determination to rid Peshawar of drug-related issues.
