No let-up in overcharging on perishable items

LAHORE:Mixed trend in the prices of perishable was witnessed but it didn’t provide relief to consumers from escalating inflation and overcharging.

The official rate lists were not implemented in the provincial metropolis where all the government officials are available while the bureaucracy and district admin performance is limited to the social media platforms where they showed their outdoor work to please the chief minister. This week mainly declining trend in the prices of perishable was recorded as majority of vegetables rates are reduced.

The price of chicken further reduced by Rs5 per kg, and fixed at Rs354-368 per kg, sold at Rs410-460 per kg and chicken meat by Rs7 per kg, fixed at Rs533 per kg, and sold Rs550-850 per kg. The price of potato sugar-free A-grade declined by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs80-85 per kg, sold at Rs130-150 per kg, B-grade by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs70-75 per kg, and C-grade by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs60-65 per kilogram, mixed sold at Rs100-120 per kg. The price of onion A-grade further increased by Rs12 per kg, fixed at Rs132-142 per kg, sold at Rs180-200 per kg, B-grade unchanged at Rs112-120 per kg, and C-grade at Rs95-100 per kg, mixed sold at Rs140-150 per kg.

The price of tomato A-grade surged by Rs25 per kg, fixed at Rs125-135 per kg, sold at Rs220-240 per kg, B-grade by Rs30 per kg, fixed at Rs113-120 per kg, and C-grade at Rs95-100 kg, mixed sold at Rs180-200 per kg.

The price of garlic local increased by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs400-420 per kg, sold at Rs500-600 per kg, Garlic Harnai by Rs15 per kg, fixed at Rs430-450 per kg, sold at Rs600 per kg, Garlic GI variety reduced by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs255-265 per kg, sold at Rs350-400 per kg and Garlic China gained by Rs45 per kg, fixed at Rs615-635 per kg, sold at Rs800-1,000 per kg. The price of both Ginger Thai and Chinese was gained by Rs150 per kg, fixed at Rs655-675 per kg, both sold at Rs800-1,000 per kg. Cucumber Farm unchanged at Rs47-50 per kg, sold at Rs80-100 per kg, and cucumber local reduced by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs62-65 per kg, sold at Rs220 per kg.

Brinjal price was declined by Rs15 per kg, fixed at Rs47-50 per kg, sold at Rs100-120 per kg. Bitter gourd further reduced by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs95-100 per kg, sold at Rs150-200 per kg.

The price of different variety of apples increased by Rs5 per kg, sold at Rs150-400 per kg.

The price of Banana A-category unchanged at Rs115-120 per dozen, sold at Rs150-180 per dozen, and B-category fixed at Rs76-80 per dozen, sold at Rs120-130 per dozen, and C-category fixed at Rs52-55 per dozen, sold at Rs80-100 per dozen.

Pomegranate danaydar was fixed at Rs355-370 per kg, sold at Rs450 per kg, pomegranate kandahari was fixed at Rs175-285 per kg, sold at Rs250-400, pomegranate Bedana reduced by Rs50 per kg, fixed at Rs520-540 per kg, sold at Rs800-1,000 per kg.

Dates were reduced by Rs25 per kg, fixed at Rs390-400 per kg, sold at Rs600 to 1,400 per kg.

Grapes Sunderkhani gained by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs295-310 per kg, sold at Rs400-500 per kg, grapes gola declined by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs167-175 per kg, sold at Rs250-300 per kg, grapes tofi reduced by Rs30 per kg, fixed at Rs240-250, sold at Rs300-400 per kg. Guava was declined by Rs45 per kg, fixed at Rs80-100 per kg, sold at Rs120-200 per kg. Musami was reduced by Rs15 per dozen, fixed at Rs75-105 per dozen, sold at Rs150-180 per dozen.
