MULTAN: In a silent operation, heavily armed contingents of South Punjab Police took down a notorious bandit wanted in multiple cases of murder, robbery, and abduction, without any casualties on the police side.
Police confirmed that the operation targeted the Lund gang in the Kacha Bangla area of Rajanpur district, where officers from Rahim Yar Khan and Rajanpur collaborated to eliminate the high-profile criminal. The Punjab government had set a bounty of Rs 10 million on the head of the dacoit, Shahid Lund, according to South Punjab Police officials.South Punjab Additional IG Muhammad Kamran Khan praised the Rahim Yar Khan and Rajanpur police teams for their successful mission, which was achieved through meticulous planning and strategic coordination. He commended their resolve in targeting and eliminating a key figure among the dacoits of the Katcha region. The Additional IG reiterated that South Punjab Police are dedicated to eliminating terrorists and criminals from the area.
Shahid Lund was wanted in more than 28 serious cases, including police killings, terrorism, kidnapping for ransom, and other violent crimes. Senior officers revealed that the bandit had multiple cases filed against him across police stations in Rahim Yar Khan and Rajanpur. For over two and a half months, the police forces in these districts had been coordinating an organized plan to capture him.Lund, infamous for sharing his exploits on social media platforms like YouTube, Facebook, and TikTok, was a well-known figure in the riverine marshlands spanning Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan. The 28-year-old often used social media to captivate viewers with messages delivered at gunpoint, portraying himself as a local hero while committing serious crimes, according to police sources.
