NOWSHERA: Teachers at a state-run school in Kotli Saleh Khana area here on Saturday protested against the focal person for the biometric attendance system, alleging inappropriate behaviour and assault.
The teachers of the Government Higher Secondary School submitted a complaint to the district education officer (DEO) and demanded an investigation by the director and secretary education, warning of a larger provincial protest if their concerns are not addressed.
During a press conference at the Nowshera Press Club, a teacher Muhammad Adil Khattak explained that Principal Syed Iqbal Shah had implemented the biometric system without proper training for the teachers.
“When they sought guidance, Anwar-ul-Haq, the focal person, reportedly submitted a false report claiming the teachers refused to comply,” he added.
He said tensions escalated when the teachers confronted Anwar-ul-Haq, who allegedly assaulted Khattak, injuring his eye.
Following the incident, the teachers called for action against Anwar-ul-Haq and reiterated their demand for a thorough investigation.
