IHC orders jailer to facilitate meetings with Imran on Tuesday

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday directed the Adiala Jail superintendent to facilitate a meeting of PTI founder Imran Khan with his family, PTI leaders and legal team on Tuesday.

IHC’s Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan heard the contempt petition for not meeting the PTI founder despite the court order.

The court ordered the petitioner that the PTI founder whom they want to meet including family, friends and lawyers submit their list to the court and dispose of the contempt petition.

PTI founder’s lawyer Faisal Farid Chaudhry, Superintendent Adiala Jail Abdul Ghafoor Anjum and Advocate General Ayaz Shaukat appeared before the court.

Faisal Chaudhry told the IHC that his meeting with Imran Khan was scheduled for Thursday but it was not held while PTI leaders including Asad Qaiser and Shibli Faraz were also stopped outside the Adiala Jail. Advocate General Islamabad told the court that they have submitted a reply in this contempt of court case. He told the court that they had not been given any list that these six people wanted to meet Imran Khan.

On this Faisal Chaudhry told the court that they had given the list of persons who wanted to meet Imran Khan in jail.

During the hearing, the Superintendent of Adiala Jail informed the court that doctors appointed in the Adiala Jail check Imran Khan three times a day.

After hearing arguments, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) directed the superintendent of Adiala Jail to arrange a meeting of PTI founder Imran Khan with his party leaders, family members and lawyers on Tuesday.
