Islamabad:Senator Musadik Masood Malik has said that the government was taking right steps for reclaiming the country’s economy to achieve sustainable development and resilient future for the coming generations with better living and livelihood conditions.
Senator Malik was addressing the closing session of the 4-day 27th Sustainable Development Conference (SDC) 2024 hosted by the Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) in collaboration with the Ministry of Climate Change and Environmental Coordination on the theme of “From fragility to resilience” here Thursday. Speakers from 40 different countries participated in the deliberations.
The minister advocated that resilience building was possible through innovation, out of the box solutions, focusing community building and modernising conventional practices. He lauded the theme of the conference “From fragility to resilience” as timely and important topic of critical significance.
Prime Minister’s Coordinator for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination Romina Khurshid Alam said the SDPI and MoCC collaboration forged new synergies to develop well informed policy discourse on daunting challenges like climate change, economic resilience and community development. She said Pakistan was committed to bring resilience in its community to augment resilience to recurring disasters and climate catastrophes.
Ms Romina added that the government efforts alone were not enough as stakeholder participation from all facets would help bear the desired outcomes. Senator Farhatullah Babur of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) expressed his insights on the 27th SDC 2024.
