Six cops dismissed on charges of short-term kidnappings
HYDERABAD: Six officials of the Sindh police in the Hyderabad district were dismissed from their jobs for their alleged involvement in short-term kidnappings of two businessmen and a hotel owner for ransom.
Inspector Asif Jatoi, sub-inspectors Saifullah Gul and Abdul Waheed Panhwar and police constables Zubair, Zohaib Hussain and Mehmood Gujjar are among those dismissed from service, said an order issued by Hyderabad SSP Farrukh Lanjar.
Inspector Asif Jatoi, Sub-Inspector Saifullah Gul and Constable Zubair had kidnapped hotel owner Hubdar Chandio and collected more than Rs400,000 in ransom.
Similarly, Sub-inspector Abdul Waheed Panhwar, constables Zuhaib Hussain and Mehmood Gujjar along with a private person kidnapped two businessmen, Mohammad Saleh and Atiq Haider, and collected a ransom amount of Rs1.9 million. A case of the short-term kidnapping of the hotel owner was registered at the Site police station and that of the kidnappings of the two businessmen was registered at the Cantt police station.
