PESHAWAR: The Insaf Lawyers Forum (ILF) on Thursday threatened to launch a protest movement against the provincial government and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister for not appointing lawyers affiliated with the party as legal advisors in various government departments.
The ILF is also holding a general body meeting of the forum on November 11 in which a strategy for protest movement would be devised. In an audio message to the ILF, provincial president Qazi Anwar advocate said that a list of 278 lawyers had been provided to the KP CM for appointing them as legal advisors in government departments.
However, he said the CM had not even reviewed this request despite the fact that over eight months passed since the provincial government was formed. He said that it was very disappointing that lawyers affiliated with opposition parties continued to serve as legal advisors in departments.
Qazi Anwar said that this situation had caused great unrest within the ILF, while multiple messages had been sent to the chief minister, but still the opposition parties’ lawyers remained in their positions.
The ILF’s general body meeting will be held at the Peshawar High Court Bar on November 11, with representatives from Peshawar, Charsadda, Mardan, Nowshera and other regions participating .A final decision on the protest strategy would be made whether to hold a protest outside the Chief Minister’s House or the KP Assembly.
