Punjab CM introduced historic package for wheat farmers: minister

GUJRANWALA: Provincial Minister for Agriculture Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani has said that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has introduced a historic package specially for wheat farmers.

Under the package, 1,000 tractors worth billions of rupees would be given to the farmers while the farmers having 12.5 to 25 acres of wheat would be given 1,000 laser land levelers. The minister expressed these views while presiding over a meeting held to increase wheat cultivation.

Agriculture Secretary Iftikhar Ali Sahu was also with him while Commissioner Gujranwala Division Syed Naveed Haider Shirazi, RPO Tayyab Hafeez Cheema, Deputy Commissioner Naveed Ahmed, Additional Commissioner Muhammad Shafiq, MNA Shazia Farid, MPA Umar Farooq Dar and others were also present in the meeting. The provincial agriculture minister said that wheat was the guarantor of the country’s food security and its timely cultivation was the guarantor of high production. He told that farmers were being provided awareness and guidance on using certified wheat seeds and balanced fertilizers to increase the production.

Giving a briefing on the occasion, Punjab Agriculture Secretary Iftikhar Ali Sahu said that the Punjab province had set a target of wheat cultivation and all possible resources and measures were being used to increase wheat cultivation and production in the province.
