Two powerful families involved in a shooting incident from Sharea Faisal to the airport have seemingly trampled all over the authority of the police, leaving the Malir police helpless in the face of their influence.

This incident sparked a social media trend under the hashtag “Police Dar Gaye” (Police Got Scared). The case has been registered on behalf of the state, but the police’s handling of the situation shows signs of powerlessness.

During the incident, which took place in the early hours of November 6, the Airport police refrained from taking legal action against the influential individuals involved in an armed confrontation over a girlfriend dispute.

Instead, the case was filed with only minor charges against three security guards. Senior police officials were entirely absent, and the Airport SHO appeared powerless before these influential figures. The case filed under the direction of officials highlights the police’s inability to enforce the law.

According to details, the armed confrontation began after the individuals involved left a well-known club and reached Sharea Faisal. They had another altercation near Tipu Sultan Road, which escalated to gunfire, and armed individuals in several vehicles reached the airport’s weapon-free zone, including some who were injured.

Although the security forces initially detained all the individuals involved, including the influential figures, and handed them over to the police, the Airport police officially arrested only three guards: Muhammad Ali, Ali Jan and Muhammad Nawaz.

The handover report from the security forces mentioned the names of influential individuals Duran Khan, Muhammad Hassan and Mustafa Badani, but they were not named in the police case.

According to the Airport Security Force’s report, Khan reportedly said their car was fired upon, and he fired back in response. Sources indicate that the Airport police are attempting to downplay the incident, and senior police officials have remained silent on the matter, which further points to a possible cover-up.
