Ahmed Bashir, Mohammad Adil shine in Quaid Trophy

LAHORE: Lahore Whites’ Ahmed Basheer and Abbottabad’s Mohammad Adil shined on the first day’s play of the third round of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy cricket tournament. Both these bowlers took seven wickets each. Ahmed Bashir has become the top wicket taker in this tournament with 22 wickets.

Sialkot’s Azan Owais and Asher Mehmood put up an opening double century partnership against Dera Murad Jamali. The match between Karachi Whites and Rawalpindi at Shoaib Akhtar Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi, was stopped in the twelfth over due to the condition of the pitch. At that time, Karachi Whites were 28 runs for 3 wickets.

Larkana were bowled out for just 63 runs against Abbottabad at the National Ground, Islamabad. Mohammad Adil took 7 wickets by giving only 16 runs. Abbottabad were 81 runs for 2 at the end of the day’s play.

Azad Jammu and Kashmir were bowled out for 171 runs against Peshawar in Ashfaq Ground, Charsadda. Sajid Khan took 5 wickets by giving 52 runs. Peshawar were 74 runs for 2 at the end of the day’s play.

Batting first against Faisalabad, Hyderabad were bowled out for 96 runs at the Diamond Cricket Ground, Islamabad. Kashif Bhatti was the top scorer with 36 runs. Asad Raza and Shahid Ali took four wickets each. In reply, Faisalabad scored 212 runs for 8 wickets. Muhammad Faizan scored 83 runs. Bilawal Bhatti took 4 wickets.

Quetta were bowled out for 101 runs in the first innings against Lahore Blues at Saeed Sports City, Lahore. Shahbaz Khan was the top scorer with 57 runs. Nisar Ahmed took 5 wickets by giving 25 runs. Lahore Blues were 36 for 5.

Islamabad were bowled out for 167 runs in the first innings against Lahore Whites at Murghazar Cricket Ground, Islamabad. Arsal Shaikh scored 63 runs not out. Ahmed Bashir took 7 wickets by giving 31 runs. Lahore Whites were 90 for 3 at the end of the day’s play. Karachi Blues scored 221 runs for 5 wickets against FATA at Multan Cricket Stadium Multan. Abdullah Fazal is not out for 96 runs.
