Plane escapes disaster after tyres burst
LAHORE
An aircraft of a private airlines escaped disaster at the main runway of Allama Iqbal International Airport on Thursday.
There were 160 people on board Dubai-bound flight when its primary engine alerted of a malfunction.
Everything appeared alright when Flight NL-766 approached the runway for takeoff at 11:20, however, as the aircraft approached take-off speed, its primary engine alerted of a malfunction. The pilot of the aircraft applied emergency brakes to stop the aircraft as there wasn’t enough length of runway left for the regular brakes to be effective.
The tyres of the aircraft, however, could not take it and three tyres burst, making the handling of the aircraft difficult. However, the pilot brought proceedings somewhat under control and avoided any catastrophic
event. Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) personnel and engineers of Shaheen Air reached the spot and started rescue activities.
