LAHORE
A western disturbance which is affecting upper parts of the country and is likely to persist till today (Friday) has brought down mercury in provincial capital here Thursday.
A windstorm hit the city on Wednesday due to which several trees were uprooted in different city localities. The storm also affected the electricity distribution system and long hours shutdown was reported in different city localities.
Met office predicted more rains and thunderstorm accompanied by strong gusty winds/duststorm (with few hailstorms) at scattered places in KP (Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Kohat, Mardan, Bannu division), upper Punjab (Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Lahore, Faisalabad, Sahiwal divisions), Islamabad, Fata, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir, while at few places in Quetta, Zhob, DG Khan. DI Khan and Multan divisions while hot and dry weather elsewhere in the country.
Rainfall was recorded in Peshawar, Parachinar, Dir and Mirkhani, Cherat, Malamjabba and Drosh, Kakul and Pattan, Lower Dir, Chakwal and MB Din, Murree, Islamabad, Jhelum, Sialkot, Rawalpindi and Mianwali, Gujrat and Mangla, Garhi Dupatta and Rawalakot, Muzaffarabad and Kotli.
Highest maximum temperatures recorded in different cities are Shaheed Benazirabad (46°C), Padidan and Dadu (45°C each), Larkana, Bahawalanagar, Okara, Rohri, Sibbi and Sukkur (44°C each).
