SWABI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and Member of National Assembly Asad Qaiser on Wednesday accused the rulers of making Pakistan a “banana republic.”
“They are acting in such an irresponsible way which has no parallel in the country’s history,” he told reporters at his residence in Marghuz after a party meeting about the upcoming public gathering in Swabi.
Criticising the government for passage of several bills in a jiffy, the former speaker of the National Assembly said: “Several amendments have been made to the Constitution in haste, which shows the intention of the government.”
He claimed that the required procedure and rules for the constitutional amendments were not followed by the government. “The rulers are introducing the law to promote their own interests. The entire philosophy revolves around this objective of the incumbent government,” he added.
The former NA speaker said that they had finalised the arrangements for Saturday’s public rally despite a tight schedule. “A large number of workers will attend the public rally from across the country,” he added.
Earlier, Asad Qaiser and various other leaders addressed the workers and urged them to render sacrifices for the success of the gathering.
The PTI leaders reviewed the arrangements for the rally and other issues.
The meeting was attended by leaders and workers from across the district.
