A father of eight daughters was shot dead outside his home in the Orangi Town neighbourhood on Wednesday.
The suspect, identified as the victim's former son-in-law, fled the scene following the attack. The incident occurred in Zia Colony, Swat Chowk area of Metroville, within the jurisdiction of the Mominabad police station. According to the police, the victim, 60-year-old Muhammad Pervaiz Khan, was shot by Sahibzada, who had been embroiled in a longstanding dispute with him.
Pervaiz, a worker at a private garment factory, was found critically injured at the scene and was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The police said the suspect had divorced Pervaiz’s daughter two years ago, but he claimed the divorce had not been finalised, sparking tension between the two men. After the divorce, Pervaiz had arranged a new marriage for his daughter, further straining relations. The suspect fled after the shooting, and police had launched an investigation. A case has been registered, and authorities are working to track down the suspect.
