Sindh Inspector General of Police Ghulam Nabi Memon has said that different committees have been constituted to make reforms in the police rules.

Talking with journalists at the Sindh High Court on Wednesday after a meeting with Chief Justice Mohammad Shafi Siddiqui, he said the police were trying its best to ensure proper training of its security units for the security of the foreigners and all units should be deployed in a coordinated manner.

The IGP said security arrangements would be made depending on the sensitivity of the place or person and police were trying to improve training and research development for the security of the foreigners.

He said various committees have been formed for reforms in police rules and committees have completed their work and will submit the final draft to the home department. He said today was our last meeting regarding police reforms, which was postponed. He said the draft with regard to proposals in reforms in police rules will be sent to home department which will be later sent to the cabinet for discussion.

To a question about street crime, Memon said it is a big problem in urban areas of Sindh, including Karachi, and police always try hard to eliminate street crime but there is still space for improvement. He said street crime incidents have fallen as compared to 2013 and the recent year since January. He said it is very painful if someone gets killed or injured in the street crime incident and such incidents could only be reduced if the accused are identified, arrested and then punished.
