LAHORE:The Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) Wednesday organised an event to make Halloki village a model one in terms of waste collection and promoting cleanliness.
The project was inaugurated by LWMC Chief Executive Officer Babar Sahib Din and MPA Rashid Minhas. The initiative is a continuation of Suthra Punjab that is the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
In this connection, the LWMC has started developing model sanitation systems in 42 union councils to ensure sanitation services. The event also included a public awareness walk, encouraging residents to participate in maintaining cleanliness. To implement the project, LWMC has deployed 10 sanitary workers, 5 handcarts, 2 rickshaws, and one mini dumper for door-to-door waste collection. Additionally, 20 waste drums have been placed throughout the village to maintain cleanliness.
The CEO emphasised that this initiative is part of a phased approach to develop model sanitation systems across all union councils of Lahore. A public awareness camp was also set up, and announcements were made to encourage cleanliness throughout the streets. Lahore Waste Management Company continues to take proactive measures to ensure a cleaner environment for the people of Lahore.
