LAHORE:Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique inaugurated the resumption of Avastin Intravitreal injection and new ophthalmology equipment in Mayo Hospital Lahore. Restocking of Avastin Intravitreal injection for patients with BRVO, AMD, and ROP has been initiated. A state-of-the-art equipment was also inaugurated at the event.
The equipment includes a phaco/vitrectomy machine and a retinal camera. On this occasion, KEMU Vice Chancellor Prof Mahmood Ayaz, Additional Technical Secretary Dr Waseem, Prof Muhammad Moin, Professor Emeritus Dr Asad Aslam Khan, CEO Mayo Hospital Prof Ahsan Nauman, MS Prof Faisal Masood, Prof Syed Raza Ali Shah, Prof Nasir Chaudhry, Prof Ali Madih Hashmi and Prof Ali Ayaz Sadiq participated.
Health minister in his address to the participants of the event said that the provision of avastin intravitreal injection is a great success. Its use will prove to be very helpful for patients suffering from eye problems. This initiative is a rare gift from the Punjab government to the eye disease patients. This facility is expected to enhance quality of care and improve outcomes for patients suffering from related diseases.
Khawaja Salman said that the inauguration of the new Phaco/Vitrectomy machine and retinal camera is a significant development in the hospital's capabilities for complex eye surgeries and diagnostics. These latest technologies will enable the ophthalmology department to provide more effective treatment. This project is first launched in Mayo Hospital.
The minister said that due to technical problems, there was a delay in the supply of this injection. It is the vision of the Punjab government that no patient should be deprived of treatment due to lack of money.
Prof Mahmood Ayaz said that the university would continue its unwavering commitment to excellence in public health care. Prof Mahmood Ayaz appreciated the joint efforts and cooperation from the government and the medical community. Prof Dr Asad Aslam Khan praised the introduction of modern equipment like phaco/vitrectomy machine and retinal camera.
