In the wake of the 26th amendment, I have seen some argue that now that politicians have control over judicial appointments the latter should have control over political appointments too. Let us not go too far in our political affiliations and try to get the positive points out of the latest constitutional amendment. Times change and our current rulers will one day be on the other side of the table. But, the constitution will continue to exist.
The trichotomy of power in Pakistan's constitution provides a robust system of checks and balances. Ensuring separation of powers prevents concentration of authority, promotes accountability among the legislative, executive, and judicial branches, encourages collaboration and consensus-building, safeguards individual rights and freedoms and enhances governance transparency and responsiveness.
