ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has become the 71st country to have connected with the Interpol’s International Child Sexual Exploitation (ICSE) database — a move expected to strengthen child protection efforts across borders.
Organized by the Interpol’s Crimes Against Children Unit, a five-day training program was held at the FIA Academy, Islamabad, equipping the FIA’s Child Abuse Unit to use the ICSE database effectively.
Nine officers from the FIA Cyber Crime Wing participated, receiving specialized training to identify and assist the victims. Launched in 2009, the ICSE database provides instant, secure access to tools and information vital for investigators handling the cases of child exploitation.
Accessed through Interpol’s global I-24/7 network, it facilitates seamless data sharing among member nations, preventing duplicate investigations and enhancing global cooperation. The database allows the Pakistani authorities to further their investigations into online child exploitation cases, as well as strengthen information-sharing frameworks with international law enforcement partners.
