PESHAWAR: Commissioner Peshawar Division Riaz Khan Mahsud has established a committee to resolve obstacles and address concerns of stakeholders in the construction of the 46-kilometer Peshawar-Torkham Expressway under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Economic Corridor.
Comprising national lawmakers, key officials, and representatives from the World Bank, the committee will accelerate progress on the project to promote regional connectivity and economic development.
The committee announced during a meeting chaired by the commissioner included MNAs Shandana Gulzar, Arbab Amir Ayub, and Asif Khan, along with the project director of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Economic Corridor, Assistant Chief of the Planning and Development Department, Assistant Commissioner Matani, and a World Bank representative.
Riaz Mahsud directed the members to present actionable recommendations within two weeks to facilitate construction, remove barriers, and ensure the fair treatment of affected communities.
The commissioner underscored the expressway’s importance, emphasizing that its completion would create jobs for residents of Peshawar and improve traffic flow. He said that consensus among stakeholders was essential to execute the project.
