The law and order situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is, in my opinion, worse today than ever before. Police and other security personnel are being targeted almost daily and there seems no let-up in the ongoing deadly attacks. The armed men involved in these incidents are seemingly beyond the reach of the law-enforcement agencies. Fear has gripped the minds of the people due to the unabated killing spree, with no effective strategy from the federal and provincial governments to overcome it.
The provincial PTI-led government is quite tight-lipped about the problem. The chief minister’s entire agenda appears to revolve around leading protests to the federal capital. All the major roads leading to the main cities in the province and other federating units are unsafe and vulnerable at night. There will be dire consequences if the government continues to fail to address this issue.
