A young woman's body and her brother-in-law in unconscious condition were found in a car parked inside a workshop in Defence on Monday.

Police said it was premature to conclude whether poisoning or drugs were involved, and that they were awaiting the doctors' findings to determine the actual cause. Upon receiving reports, police and rescue teams reached the scene and promptly took both individuals to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.

According to the police, the deceased, identified as 29-year-old Jawaria, daughter of Sultan, was found alongside 24-year-old Kashif Iqbal, who is her brother-in-law and remains in a serious condition.

SSP South Sajid Saduzai said the workshop belongs to Kashif Iqbal, who resides in the house above it. The workshop is located in Phase II, DHA, within the limits of the Defence Police Station.

Initial reports suggested that the incident may have occurred due to poisoning or narcotics use. SSP Saduzai stated that once Kashif regains consciousness, his statement will be recorded, which will assist significantly in the investigation. Police have also contacted their families and are recording their statements to uncover further details.

Just a day earlier, an incident occurred in Defence, where a girl was injured in a car due to a gunshot. Police indicated it was an accidental shooting, and they detained the male companion in the car.
