Meeting on prisons reforms today

LAHORE:The Departmental Promotion Committee meeting is being held today (Tuesday) to pursue the Punjab government’s agenda for prison reforms on the directive of Punjab’s Home Secretary.

The Additional Secretary Prisons is chairing the meeting that will be attended by the Inspector General of Prisons and Additional Secretary Regulations. In the meeting the promotion of seven Deputy Superintendents to the next rank will be discussed. This will be the fourth promotion committee meeting of the Home Department of 2024.

The department’s spokesperson emphasised that the government is committed to ensuring timely promotions for eligible officers according to the established rules, as part of an ongoing effort to strengthen the prison system and incentivise competent leadership within the department.
