KARACHI: Pakistani runner Amjad Ali delivered a standout performance at the Istanbul Marathon on Sunday, clocking in at 2 hours, 49 minutes, and 29 seconds to emerge as Pakistan’s fastest finisher.
Among thousands of participants, Ali secured an impressive 47th place overall, a significant achievement that places him among the top runners in the field.
Ethiopian runner Dejene Debela claimed the marathon’s top spot, finishing the race in 2 hours, 11 minutes, and 40 seconds.
Kenya’s Kenneth Kiprop Kipkemoi, a highly regarded competitor, crossed the line in third place with a time of 2 hours, 12 minutes, and 7 seconds.
Alongside Ali, other Pakistani athletes demonstrated endurance and determination in the marathon, including Muzammil Khan Niazi, who completed the race in 3 hours, 13 minutes, and 45 seconds, and Bilal Umar, who crossed the finish line in 3 hours, 45 minutes, and 58 seconds.
Ali Khurshid, Roha l Ahmed, Asad Tungeker, and Muhammad Adnan also finished strong, each managing to complete the race in under four hours.
