LAHORE : A man and his two sons were shot dead near Saggian Bridge in Shahdara when they were en route to a court here on Saturday.
Safdar and his sons Yasir and Nasir were attacked by four attackers on motorbikes. In the attack, Safdar’s third son, Jafar, was also injured. He was transferred to Mayo Hospital.
DIG Operations Faisal Kamran, who personally inspected the scene, revealed that the murder was rooted in a longstanding feud dating back to 2015, when suspect, Abdul Ghafoor, allegedly sought vengeance for his son M Afzal's death.
According to police, Abdul Ghafoor and his accomplice, identified as Usman, ambushed the family’s rickshaw, resulting in the fatal shooting. Fortunately, the rickshaw driver was unharmed in the attack. IG Dr Usman Anwar has called for a comprehensive investigation and mobilised resources to apprehend the culprits.
DIG Kamran stated that evidence collection is under way, and special teams have been formed to track down the assailants. The police are committed to bringing those responsible to justice as swiftly as possible, he said.
