Sindh police chief Ghulam Nabi Memon on Friday announced the formal launch of a health insurance policy for police officers and personnel, effective from November 1 this year.
During a meeting held at the Central Police Office, he expressed gratitude to the Sindh government for this significant and compassionate initiative. The meeting included the presence of additional IGs from Karachi, CTD, operations, welfare, and various DIGs.
The Sindh government has allocated funds for the health insurance, providing up to Rs1 million in medical facilities for police personnel and their family members at 200 private hospitals across the country starting November 1.
The IGP emphasised that this was the inaugural year of the health policy, urging officers to ensure its success and effectiveness in assisting those in need of medical treatment. He stressed the importance of training welfare officers and raising awareness among personnel regarding the policy. Efforts should also focus on collecting and verifying family data from Nadra.
He called for strong coordination between district focal persons from the insurance company and police welfare officers, ensuring that documentation did not delay access to medical facilities. District officers and unit in-charges were instructed to hold gatherings to inform employees about the importance and benefits of the health policy.
Additionally, the Sindh AIG welfare noted that the helpline of the Central Welfare Branch at the CPO was available around the clock to assist personnel.
