MANSEHRA: The police on Friday rescued a five-member family, which was stranded in the Gattidas area of Kaghan valley after heavy snowfall earlier this week.
“The five-member family from Peshawar had been stranded after their vehicle got stuck in heavy snow. Our brave police personnel safely rescued them along with their vehicle,” District Police Officer Shafiullah Khan Gandapur told reporters here.
The Mansehra-Naran-Jalkhad (MNJ) Road, which connects Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with Gilgit-Baltistan, was blocked to traffic following the heaviest snowfall of the season in Kaghan Valley on Tuesday.
The tourists, who were returning to Peshawar from Babusar Top, were stuck in the heavy snowfall, and police personnel deployed at the Gattidas post safely rescued them and brought them to Naran.
The DPO said that the MNJ road was currently closed to all traffic beyond Barawai in the upper parts of the valley and it was likely to remain closed until summer next year.
