Cricket match brawl leaves one dead in Bajaur
BAJAUR: One person was killed and several others, including cops, sustained injuries in a brawl during the final match of the Bajaur Cricket League at the sports complex here on Friday.
The match was halted as chaos ensued, turning the stadium into a battleground.
The incident occurred when the third umpire declared a player from Team 804 out, sparking a dispute between the teams that quickly escalated.
Amid the altercation, a man identified as Fazal Wahid, aged 50 and a resident of Naya Mamond, Bajaur, lost his life, while several others sustained injuries.
Following the outbreak of violence, the commentator urged spectators to clear the way to allow emergency responders to reach and evacuate the injured.
Personnel from FC and police quickly intervened, bringing the situation under control and transporting the wounded to a hospital.
Police officials said that six persons were held and raids were being conducted to arrest others.
