Teenager assaulted

LAHORE : An accused Friday assaulted a teenager girl in the Shad Bagh area.

According to Shad Bagh police, accused Rohit alias Chitta barged into the house of a 17-year-old girl with his accomplices and assaulted her and took away 1.5 tola gold jewellery and Rs200,000.

The police registered the case and arrested the accused. According to police sources, both the accused and the victim belong to Christian community and were acquainted with each other.

Three injured in road accident

Three people, including two women, suffered injuries in a road accident on Friday.

A speeding bus hit a rickshaw near Scheme Mor, Multan Road, leaving a man and two women injured. The injured were shifted to a hospital.

Nine die in road accidents in 24 hours

In the past 24 hours, Punjab Rescue 1122 has responded to 1,481 road traffic accidents across the province, resulting in nine fatalities and numerous injuries.

According to Rescue 1122 spokesperson, the highest number of accidents were reported in Lahore (279), followed by Faisalabad (115) and Multan (93). Of the 1,526 injured individuals, 1,247 were male, and 279 were female. Rescue teams provided first aid on the spot to 873 victims, while 653 others, suffering from severe injuries, were immediately transferred to nearby hospitals for further medical care.

The data also indicated that motorbikes were involved in the majority of incidents, with 1,353 motorcycles, 88 rickshaws, and 121 cars reported among the vehicles involved. In Lahore alone, 279 accidents occurred, resulting in injuries to 290 individuals, including 98 who required urgent hospitalisation and 192 who received on-site first aid.

Two robbers nabbed

Cantonment division police Friday arrested two robbers in less than 24 hours after they allegedly snatched Rs5.5 million from a citizen in Defence Area-A.

The bandits deprived Shahid Abbas of Rs5.5million. A special police team arrested the robbers and recovered the cash, two motorcycles and two pistols from them. SP Avais Shafiq announced the arrest and recovery of stolen items from the bandits during a press briefing.
