Assets Transfer Programme among rural women inaugurated

LAHORE: Provincial Minister for Livestock and Agriculture Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani Friday inaugurated the registration of Assets Transfer Programme among rural women in Livestock department.

Consequently, applications receiving process for distribution of animals has started and the event was also attended by Parliamentary Secretary Livestock Punjab Sardar Asim Makan and Secretary Livestock Punjab Saqib Ali Ateel. On the occasion, Kirmani said 10,000 applications have been received within a few hours after the start of receiving regular applications. The collection of applications will continue till November 10. If applications more than 100,000 are received, the fair distribution of heifers will be ensured through e-balloting in a transparent manner.

The minister explained that the Punjab Chief Minister will distribute Livestock Assets among rural women after November 10 in a district of south Punjab. The livestock assets will be transferred to 11,000 widows and divorced women of south Punjab with a sum of Rs2billion. Rural women will be provided free of cost heifers. In this regard, the maximum age limit for women is 55 years, their poverty PMT score should be up to 32 and these rural women have not received animals from any other scheme during the last 5 years. Women will apply by downloading the application from Play Store/App Store. In addition, rural women can also approach the CM Facilitation Desk located at the nearest veterinary dispensary for registration. The minister endorsed that the CM feels the pain of cultivators & livestock farmers and her motto is the prosperity of livestock farmers. He said the scheme will empower and make rural women stand on their own feet.
