Army dominate as National Swimming begins
LAHORE: The 58th Men’s and 19th Women’s National Open Swimming Championship 2024 got underway Friday at the Punjab International Swimming Pool Complex, located opposite Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.
The championship began with an action-packed first day featuring 13 events.
On the opening day seven competitions in men’s category were held and six in women’s.
In both male and female events, Army turned out to be the dominant force.
Army conquered the men’s events, securing 5 gold medals. The day’s standout performer was Muhammad Ahmed Durrani (Army), who clinched two gold medals in 400M Individual Medley (5:02.85) and 400M Freestyle (4:30.65)
The most exciting moment came in the 4x100M Medley Relay, where Team Punjab set a new national record with a time of 3:42.76, outpacing Army (3:47.90) and HEC (3:56.52).
