This letter refers to the report, ‘CM launches Rs6 billion infrastructure energy projects in Karachi’ (October 23). A 2.3MW power plant reportedly cost the public Rs290 million. However, a simple internet search reveals that the Sindh government overpaid significantly, as the market rate is around Rs180 million. For a 614 KW plant, the government expended Rs216 million instead of the actual cost of Rs56 million. But then, why should this come as a surprise?
