ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has directed that all facilities including newspaper to which PTI founder Imran Khan is entitled to as per the jail manual be provided to him.
The court issued these directives to the deputy superintendent Adiala Jail on Thursday. Justice Arbab Tahir told jail authorities to arrange meetings with Imran, whether it is a WhatsApp call or any other thing. The court issued these directions on a petition filed by Noorin Niazi.
Justice Arbab remarked that the jail authorities said meetings had been restored. PTI leader Shoaib Shaheen requested the court to seek an affidavit that restrictions would not be imposed on meetings. The judge said that as per jail authorities, restrictions were imposed due to security reasons.
The deputy superintendent said the facility of WhatsApp calls was not mentioned in the jail manual. DIG Jails Abdul Rauf and Assistant Attorney General Khalid Mehmood appeared. The jail official said lawyers and family members met Imran a day before and all facilities had been provided to him.
