ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari suffered a foot fracture while disembarking from a plane upon his arrival at the Dubai Airport Wednesday night. According to the spokesperson for the President House, President Zardari was immediately taken to a hospital, where doctors applied a plaster cast after examination.
The spokesperson said the president’s foot will remain in a cast for four weeks, and he had been advised to rest at home. Following the treatment, President Zardari was shifted to his residence.
Meanwhile, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUIF) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman phoned PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and inquired after President Asif Ali Zardari. During the telephonic conversation with Bilawal, Fazl expressed his best wishes for Zardari’s speedy recovery.
Meanwhile, President Asif Ali Zardari, who had to undertake a four-day visit to China from Monday, wouldn’t proceed to Beijing. According to diplomatic sources, the visit was expected to take place from November 4 to 7, during which he had to hold talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping. They had to have discussions on phase 2 of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), Pak-China bilateral relations and regional and global security issues.
President Zardari was also scheduled to attend the Shanghai World Expo on November 5 as part of his visit. The sources indicated that the president might visit China later next month.
