Hockey player Abu Bakar undergoes surgery in Lahore
LAHORE: Abu Bakar, an international hockey player, underwent knee surgery in Lahore. Pakistani doctor Kamran Butt, who came from Scotland, performed the operation.
Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) President Tariq Bugti, former President Akhtar Rasool, and Coach Tahir Zaman visited him.
“I am very pleased with the success of the operation and grateful to the PHF,” said Abu Bakar. “I plan to go to Australia for rehab, which may take five to six months.”
PHF President Tariq Bugti said, “The Hockey Federation has always looked after its players, and it was great to see Abu Bakar smiling. We look forward to seeing him back on the field soon.”
Dr. Kamran confirmed that the surgery went very well. “If Abu Bakar stays focused on proper rehab, he may recover in a short time,” he added.
Camp starts today
The training camp for players in the PHF Development Squad, scheduled to participate in the China Hockey League 2024 from November 11 to 21 in Hangzhou will commence on Friday (today) at the National Hockey Stadium, Lahore.
All players have been directed to report by 12 noon with their documents and complete kits.
The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) aims to provide valuable experience to the PHF Development Squad, with the goal of selecting top-performing players for future junior and senior teams.
