Fake finger-marking in polio drive: Registration of cases against culprits ordered

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Secretary Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry on Thursday directed the authorities concerned to take strict action against those involved in fake finger-marking in the polio campaigns and register criminal cases against them under the relevant law.

“Eradicating the fatal disease of polio is a challenging task for us and no compromise will be tolerated in this regard,” he told a meeting on polio at Commissioner House in Kohat. Inspector General of Police Akhtar Hayat Khan, Secretary National Health Nadeem Mehbub, Commissioner Kohat Division Syed Motasim Billah Shah, DIG Kohat Sher Akbar, Deputy Commissioner Kohat Abdul Akram and other officials attended the meeting.

The meeting was briefed in detail about the polio situation in Kohat division, especially on the recently confirmed polio case in the former tribal area of Darra Adamkhel.

The meeting also discussed the polio security plan in detail and several important decisions were taken in this regard. The chief secretary ordered inquiry into the recent polio case in the tribal area. He directed to unearth those involved in fake finger-marking.

Later the Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Federal Secretary National Health, Inspector General of Police Pakhtunkhwa also planted saplings in the lawn of Commissioner House Kohat.
