PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) granted transit bail to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders, including Waqas Akram Sheikh, founding chairman Imran Khan’s lawyer Naeem Haider Panjotha and journalist Sami Ibrahim, and restrained the police from arresting them.
A single bench of the PHC comprising Justice Wiqar Ahmad also directed the PTI leaders to appear in the relevant courts by November 14.
The petitioners were represented by lawyer Alam Khan Adinzai, who informed the court that his clients faced charges in Rawalpindi and Islamabad and sought to appear before the relevant courts.
The court granted transit bail to the petitioners and directed them to appear in court by November 14.
Similarly, a two-member bench of the PHC comprising Justice Ijaz Anwar and Justice Syed Arshad Ali, also heard Waqas Akram Sheikh’s petition for protective bail.
His lawyer Alam Khan Adinzai told the bench that his client, who is also a Member National Assembly, had been residing in Peshawar for the last one month and faced charges in Islamabad.
Although he wished to appear in the relevant courts, there is a concern that he might be arrested before reaching court.
After arguments, the court granted protective bail to the petitioner and directed him to appear in the relevant courts by November 14.
