PESHAWAR: Female students of the University of Peshawar staged anti-drug awareness walk on Mall Road as part of the province-wide Drug-Free Peshawar campaign.
Organised under the supervision of Commissioner Peshawar Division Riaz Khan Mahsud, the walk started at Khalid Bin Waleed Park and ended at Edwardes College, with students carrying hand-painted posters advocating for a society free from drugs.
At the conclusion of the walk, 45 students presented their artwork to Commissioner Riaz Mahsud at a ceremony held at the Commissioner’s Office, where certificates were awarded to recognize their contributions.
Commissioner Riaz Mahsud lauded the students’ commitment, stating that the involvement of students and the public, particularly youth, reinforces the government’s resolve to eliminate the drug trade from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He highlighted the recent mega crackdown on drug networks as a significant step forward, adding that the days of drug mafias are numbered and expressing optimism that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will soon be free of this menace.
He said the Drug-Free Peshawar campaign had been launched under the directive of Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur which would yield the desired results.
