LAHORE : A Mobile App has been launched to keep a close eye on all proceedings including matches of Khelta Punjab Games. All sports officers have been directed to send pictorial evidences of matches in their respective areas on the Mobile App.
DG Youth Affairs and Sports Punjab Pervez Iqbal said this while presiding over an important meeting at the National Hockey Stadium on Wednesday.
Director Admin Dr M Kaleem, Director Sports Yasmeen Akhtar, all divisional and district sports officers of the province were present in the meeting.
He said that a total of 120,000 players have been registered in Khelta Punjab Games which will be inaugurated in all districts of the province on Nov 1, 2024. He appreciated the provincial sports officers for registering 120,000 athletes and also reprimanded the sports officers of Jhelum, Gujrat and Chiniot for their poor performance in the registration process of Khelta Punjab Games.
Pervez Iqbal said that merit and transparency will be ensured in monetary and other affairs of Khelta Punjab Games. “No negligence and complacency will be tolerated in the smooth organisation of Khelta Punjab Games,” he warned.
Revealing more details of Khelta Punjab Games, Pervez Iqbal informed that in the first phase, the competitions of six games athletic (boys/girls), badminton (boys/girls), football, hockey, kabaddi and tape ball cricket will be conducted from Nov 1 to 14. “Apart from cricket, the matches of all other games will be conducted under the league system”.
He directed all the divisional and district sports officers of the province to send the list of match venues in their respective areas as early as possible. “Khelta Punjab Games are being organised to trace fresh talent from grassroots level in accordance with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz,” he added.
He said that the participating players will be awarded biggest cash prizes of Punjab’s history. “Cash awards will also be given to those sports officers who will exhibit best performance in Khelta Punjab Games,” he added.
