Security for transgender persons sought
PESHAWAR: The government and police were asked to provide security to the transgender persons after an old video of a transvestite went viral on social media.
Police officials said they contacted the victim but the video was an old one and a case of which had already been lodged. “The Federal Investigation Agency is also being moved against those who circulated the video recently,” said an official.
There was anger among the public after a popular transgender person was seen while being harassed and tortured at gun-point in a video that went viral on Wednesday.
After the video went viral, people demanded action against the culprits. However, the police officials said the incident had happened two years ago and a case was also lodged. The public demanded that action under the cybercrime act should be taken against those who circulated the video.
