PESHAWAR: Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Fazal Moqeem Khan on Tuesday demanded the provincial government to announce a special compensation package for factory fire affectees.
Fazal Moqeem along with FPCCI former president Ghazanfar Bilour, former presidents Riaz Arshad, Malik Niaz Ahmad, Adeel Rauf, former vice presidents Junaid Altaf, Haris Mufti, and member of the chamber executive committee Hassan Zahideen, Adnan Nasir, Sajjad Zaheer, Industrialists Association Peshawar president Ayub Zakori visited site of the affected factory in Hayatabad Industrial Estate.
The SCCI delegation examined various damaged portions in the factory.
Expressing regret over billions of rupees loss, the chamber president asserted that the government should equip Rescue-1122, firefighters and other institutions to deal with such incidents.
He called upon the government to announce a special compensation package for the affected factory and take steps for operationalisation of the factory as it is a source of employment for a large number of workers.
The SCCI chief welcomed the provincial government’s decision to form a committee to probe into the factory fire. Goods worth over Rs2 Billion were burnt to ashes in the fire, he added.
