Slap your thighs and clap your hands for the superb spin duo of Sajid and Nauman. It has been a long time since one saw bowling of such high calibre. Evidence of this was seen in the second and third tests which Pakistan won comfortably. Batters of the calibre of Roots and Brooks were left rooted to the ground as the ball thudded onto their pads or rattled their stumps. Credit must also go to the team selectors who took the bold step of deciding that our real strength lay in the ability of our spinners rather than our fast bowlers. It was nice to see that the change in captaincy brought in much-needed unity in the team as opposed to the previous disastrous groupings. The fact that these groupings were led by our senior cricketers is a matter of regret and shame. I loved the way Shan ended England’s misery in the last overs of the third test with controlled well-timed hitting which was a clear indication of his new confidence in himself and his team. In light of these excellent results, it would be wise to include both spinners in the tour of Australia and maybe include a fast bowler in replacement of the leg spinner. So slap your thighs and clap your hands whenever you meet fellow cricket lovers as a token of our appreciation for the amazing spin duo of Pakistan.
