WASHINGTON: The State Department on Monday acknowledged that the Biden administration has received the letter signed and sent by over 60 members of Congress about Pakistan.
“We will respond in due course to the members,” the department spokesperson Matthew Miller said during the daily briefing.
Responding to another question, Mr Miller said that the US wants to see democracy upheld in Pakistan including everyone’s fundamental right to participate in democracy and exercise their fundamental freedoms.
The spokesperson said that US deputy assistant secretary’s meetings with Pakistani officials emphasised the “important role human rights, support for vibrant society and strong democratic institutions play in our comprehensive US-Pakistan relationship.”
